Received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2006 and was admitted to the Philippine Bar the following year. He received his Bachelor of Arts (Public Administration) degree from the University of the Philippines (Diliman) in 2001. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Senior Associate at the Tax Advisory and Advocacy Group of SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co. (Ernst & Young) and was a former Legal Assistant at Villanueva Gabionza & De Santos Law Offices.

Relevant Experiences

• Part of the legal team to advising a leading Philippine power generation company on the PhP 16 Billion project financing for its newly acquired power generation assets.

• Acted as transaction counsel to a local microfinance institution and a foreign financial advisor on a P500 million financing transaction.

• Advises a private project proponent on a fiscal administration projects under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) scheme.

• Acted as advisor to petroleum subcontractors (offshore drilling) and power generation companies on various tax and corporate.

• Acted as advisor to foreign banks and insurance companies on various financial transactions.

• Part of the team which acted as advisor to a foreign bank on a US$5 Billion issuance of Notes, Certificates and Warrants.

• Advised multinational companies in relation to application of tax treaty provisions and transfer pricing rules.

• Advised and represented clients in administrative proceedings in the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) involving tax assessments, claims for tax refund and in securing administrative rulings.

• Advised and represented clients in administrative proceedings involving various applications with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

• Handled legal requirements for the establishment of local business presence with the necessary corporate structures that addresses the investors’ and shareholders’ requirements. Services include accreditation for incentives under the Board of Investments (BOI) and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and approvals for establishment of Regional Headquarters.
