Received his Bachelor of Laws (Llb) degree from Silliman University in 2004, graduating cum laude and at the top of his class. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the same university where he graduated cum laude in 1997. Formerly an associate attorney at Ortega del Castillo Bacorro Odulio Calma and Carbonell Law Office, he is also a civil engineer, having placed tenth (10th) in the 1997 national licensure examinations. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2005.

Relevant Experiences

• Currently involved in various energy projects, including acting as local legal consultant for an international advisory group in relation to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) program for the privatization of electricity supply in small power utilities group areas, with work involving assistance to electric cooperatives and private investors, particularly in the drafting and refinement of transaction documents and ancillary contracts, as well as the implementation of a competitive selection process for new private power providers. Also rendered assistance in the development of the regulatory framework and transaction structure for private sector participation programs of the DOE in areas unviable for electrification.

• Represents clients in proceedings before the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), particularly in applications for approval of power supply contracts.

• Acts as counsel in all aspects of general and appellate litigation, covering civil, criminal and administrative proceedings, with work primarily consisting of appearances in court and administrative agencies, as well as the preparation of pleadings.

• Represents clients charged in cases filed before the National Labor Relations Commission, such as illegal dismissal and employee claims for benefits.

• Currently handles registration of intellectual property rights for clients and litigation involving contests on registrability of marks, and provides advice to clients on intellectual property law and the protection of intellectual property rights.
