Relief operations now underway for Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda victims

Massive relief operations are now being undertaken in the areas devastated by super typhoon “Yolanda” (international name “Haiyan”).

The eastern seaboard of the Philippines suffered the brunt of the Typhoon which hit the Philippines on 8 November causing severe damage to infrastructure and massive loss of lives. One the hardest hit areas is the province of Leyte where thousands are still reported missing or dead. Local authorities are appealing for donations of food, clothing, medicines and potable water.

While the Government continues to assess the actual damage – with most areas still inaccessible by land – we at PJSLaw, through PJSLaw Foundation, Inc., are coordinating with various local individuals and non-governmental organizations at site to extend assistance and disseminate information on the needs of the affected communities.
