ROWENA FATIMA M. SALONGA

Received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of the Philippines in 2009 and was admitted to the Philippine Bar the following year. She received her Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) degree from the University of the Philippines (Diliman) in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, she was an Associate at Lara Ocampo Uy Santos Tayag and Danganan Law Offices. She passed the New York State Bar in 2010.

Relevant Experiences

  • Handles various litigation and dispute resolution matters for clients, including developing case strategies, drafting opinions and pleadings, negotiating settlements, and appearing before the regular courts and other agencies of government. Experiences include civil and criminal suits, special proceedings, appellate work, mediation and arbitration, and inter- and intra-corporate litigation. Provides pro bono services for indigent clients.
  • Assists Philippine and foreign clients in various labor and employment-related issues. Work includes drafting opinions, reviewing employment agreements, providing advice on company policies and regulations as well as employee relations, and representing clients before the National Labor Relations Commission and the Department of Labor.
  • Currently part of the team which services several portfolios consisting of non-performing loans and acquired non-performing assets assigned to special purpose vehicles under the Special Purpose Vehicle Act of 2002. Scope of work includes prosecution of various collection, foreclosure and writ of possession cases, negotiation and preparation of various settlement instruments, execution of compromise agreements, deeds of assignments, dation in payments, and amendments to sale and purchase agreements.
  • Advised and represented local and foreign clients in administrative proceedings involving various applications with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
  • Currently acting as Assistant Corporate Secretary to a local stock corporation. Work includes contract review, drafting legal opinions, preparation of minutes of meetings, secretary’s certificates and the preparation of documents for filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Part of the team which provides assistance to local energy generation companies in relation to the operation and development of their hydroelectric and natural gas-fired power plants. Work includes review of operational contracts and representation before various government agencies and private entities including the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM), and the Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC).
  • Part of the team that advised Aboitiz Power Corporation, through its subsidiary Therma Mobile, Inc., on the acquisition of four (4) power barges from Duracom Mobile Power Corporation (DMPC) and East Asia Diesel Power Corporation (EADPC) with a total capacity of 242MW.
